Whoever possesses these three things, he is of the disciples of Abraham, our father; A good eye (ayin tovah), a humble spirit and a moderate appetite.
– Pirkei Avot 5
Rabbi Eliezer therefore concluded that the benevolent eye was the panacea for all that is wrong in the world, and suggested that a person pray to G’d to help him acquire this character trait of the ayin tovah, the positive attitude to all that he sees around him.
– Eliyahu Munk, Akeydat Yitzchak 61:1

Shawn Achor maintains you need to change your inner mindset to be more happy with your current situation or you’ll probably never make it to happiness. The good news is that when you have a more positive mindset, you work more efficiently and creatively – making it easier to reach your goals.

Holocaust survivor Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis, OBM, was the founder and president of Hineni, an internationally renowned Torah outreach organization which is now led by her children. This inspiring video was recorded five years prior to her passing. How did she overcome such negative circumstances? “…not through might and not through force will we prevail over our avowed enemies, but only through increasing our attachment to G-d through the power of prayer, through remaining vigilant about our Torah study, of creating genuine unity amongst Jews and displaying constant kindness and compassion to our brethren.”

Daily Goals
Happiness is a skill that can be learned. The essential factor, whether or not you will live a happy life, is based less on external factors such as wealth, success and fame, and more on your attitude toward life, toward yourself, toward other people, and toward events and situations. Regardless of your attitudes in the past, you have the ability to change and become a master of happiness. Tell yourself “IT’S UP TO ME.”
I create the quality of my life with my ongoing thoughts.
The choice of joy or the opposite is mine.
See, hear, and feel the way joyful people see, hear, and feel.
Un-joy is created by negative thoughts, words, and actions.
Perspective can me happy or unhappy.
Talk to yourself the way you would if you were a master of joy.
Oneness of humanity gives me many opportunities to be kind and experience real happiness.
My unconditional joy and love creates a magnificent life.
Every moment of joy is stored in my awesome brain and I can access those moments whenever I choose.
Today is the best day to improve your skills. Either things will go EXACTLY the way you want — and then you can focus on the feeling of joy. Or things will NOT go the way you want and you’ll have the opportunity to attain greater mastery over your attitude.
Throughout the day, keep asking yourself: “What attitude will enable me to experience joy and empowerment RIGHT NOW?
